While it is true that any GI doctor can treat your HepC, we have found at our support group to use the doctors and clinics that specialize in HCV, that is, GI doctors who have a hepatology focus in their practice. They seem set up to stay on top of the side effects from interferon/infergen treatment.

Private Blood Testing
You can find out on your own if you have Hep C by ordering a test online for about $60. You go to a LabCorps location where they draw the blood. You receive results online within 48 hours and will know if you need to go on to a doctor. This is good if you have poor or no insurance or if you wish to find out right away.

You can get a vaccine for HepA &B at these locations but NO TEST to find out if you have HepC. The HepA&B vaccine, if available, will cost you $10 per shot. It's a series of 3 so the total cost will be $30.
All clinics, except for the Specialty Clinic, operate by appointment only.
