Courage
We share many things in common within this group, and one of those is the
discovery of the fact that we have hepatitis C.most likely delivered by a
medical professional in a very clinical manner. The news comes as a complete
shock. This is total devastation, beyond belief. We're outraged.our brains
tell us this cannot be happening...this must not be real. We usually enter
into a state of denial and anger lasting for weeks and months. We begin to
believe this may be the beginning of the end.
Only when we reach a state of acceptance of the facts are we able to deal
effectively with this new challenge. Instead of the end we start to believe
this is just the beginning. We come to the realization we are on a journey,
each of us taking our own path on the journey this new challenge provides.
One thing the journey requires is a great deal of Courage.whether to begin
treatment or not.whether to stay on treatment or not.whether to share our
journey with others or keep it to ourselves.whether to make the necessary
lifestyle changes the journey requires for success. Many tough decisions
have to be made daily, all requiring Courage.
"If you stand straight, do not fear a crooked shadow." - Ancient Chinese
Proverb
"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Respect
others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life,
perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life
long and of service to your people. When you rise in the morning, give
thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your
food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the
fault lies in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing , for abuse turns the
wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision." - Tecumseh, Chief of
the Shawnee Nation
